About This Event
This course examines the relationship between substance use disorders and mental disorders using DSM-5 diagnostic criteria. Participants will learn to differentiate between independent co-occurring disorders and substance-induced mental disorders, identify shared and specific symptoms across use, withdrawal, and persistent withdrawal phases, and understand diagnostic considerations for conditions including depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, PTSD, personality disorders, anxiety, schizophrenia, ADHD, eating disorders, and cross-cutting topics such as suicide and trauma.
